Humanities Hackathon: AI Generated Texts and Images

· 1 min read

How might historians and literary scholars engage with synthetic data—AI-generated text, images, and metadata—while preserving critical, interpretive, and ethical reflection?

This one-day hackathon (10:15–16:00) at Akademihotellet, Uppsala, invites participants from history, literature, digital humanities and cultural studies to collaboratively explore the creative and methodological potential of generative AI for historical and literary research. No prior AI or digital methods knowledge is required.

Participants will learn about synthetic data and AI, experiment with synthetic historical and literary data, and may contribute to a resulting publication. Lunch and fika are included.

Organized by Uppsala University, the WASP-HS research group Synthetic Data: Facts, Representations, and Transparency, the WASP-HS Cluster of Culture and Memory, and the Synthetic Pasts Project (Marcus and Amalia Wallenberg Foundation).
