Alicja Ostrowska has successfully defended her doctoral dissertation Life and AI at NASA: An Ethnography of How Scientists and Engineers Make Tools to Explore Other Worlds at Chalmers University of Technology.

Based on fieldwork at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, the dissertation investigates how AI is reshaping knowledge production in planetary science — and how the data used to train these tools often reflects the prestige and accessibility of Earth locations rather than their relevance to other worlds.
